Novokuybişevsk refinery is a significant Rosneft facility with a project capacity of roughly 8.8 million tonnes of oil per year. It produces RT jet fuel for aircraft such as the Su-27 and Tu-22M3, alongside diesel, gasoline, bitumen and petroleum coke. Ukrainian intelligence and the General Staff said its products meet needs of the Russian armed forces. The attack therefore targets an industrial facility with a reported military supply role, although the extent of the damage remains unknown.
Nə baş verdi
Ukrainian drones attacked the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia's Samara region overnight on 30 October. Fire Point said its own FP-1 drones were used and that multiple hits were recorded across the refinery grounds. Two satellite analysts identified at least 11 separate burning sites, while one of the affected installations was reported to be a diesel hydrotreatment unit. Explosions were heard across several districts of Novokuibyshevsk at about 05:00 local time. Samara governor Viacheslav Fedorishchev said air defences and mobile fire groups were operating but did not specify what had been hit or the consequences. Residents said his statement appeared almost two hours after the attack began. The refinery had also been attacked on 18 April and in the night of 22 August.

Ukrainian outlets emphasize the use of domestically developed FP-1 drones, the number of recorded impacts and the affected industrial installations. They also highlight the refinery's reported military role, particularly its production of jet fuel for Russian aircraft and other products used by the armed forces. Ukrainian officials describe strikes on facilities connected to Russian military production as part of a broader campaign against the country's oil-refining and defence-support base.

The non-Ukrainian coverage confirms the drone attack on the refinery in Samara region but provides less detail about the drone type, the installations struck, the refinery's military output and the parallel reported strike in Bryansk region.

Sources disagree over whether an air-raid warning was issued in Novokuibyshevsk before the attack or only after it had begun. Some residents reported no warning, while others said the alert came during the attack. Most reports put the refinery's annual processing capacity at about 8.8 million tonnes, but one report lists 8.3 million tonnes.
Kontekst
Novokuibyshevsk refinery has belonged to the Samara group of Rosneft enterprises since 2007. It produces more than 20 types of petroleum products, including automotive and aviation fuel, Euro-5 diesel, jet fuel, bitumen, petroleum coke and lubricating-material components. A parallel target in Bryansk region was reportedly the Konservsushprod plant, which supplies canned food and individual rations to Russian security forces and the armed forces. During the wider overnight campaign, airport operations were disrupted in Samara, Yaroslavl and Moscow.
